News: 4K Indiana Jones tetralogy revealed
Updated: May 27
To coincide with the 40th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark this year, Paramount have revealed a brand-new 4K Blu-ray and digital restoration of the current four films due in June 2021; the aforementioned Raiders, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Paramount confirmed the release along with a statement:
"Each film has been meticulously remastered from 4K scans of the original negatives with extensive visual effects work done to ensure the most pristine and highest quality image, and all picture work has been approved by director Steven Spielberg."
It's not sure what is meant by "extensive visual effects work", but I am sure that's more about cleaning up the frames and touching up the light/colours rather than doing a George Lucas and adding in new characters and scenes!
With a bonus disc full of unseen special features, plus all the original features from previous Blu-ray / DVD releases of all four films, this should be the perfect celebration for Harrison Ford's fedora wearing archaeologist and tide us over until he returns in 2022 for his fifth cinematic adventure.
The 4K Indiana Jones collection will be available from June 8th 2021.
